It’s no secret that Luis Campos has an immaculate football brain, with his work at Monaco and Lille standing out especially, but with recent links to the gunners, we take a deeper look into what he would bring to the table, and how he would massively improve us.
Who is Campos?
Luis Campos is a 56-year-old Portuguese Director of Football, who also has previous managerial experience, he is well known as one of the most talented DOF’s in the current world of football.
Previous Work:
Campos has enjoyed successful times with various clubs, but we will focus on his most famous stints here, the first being Monaco. One could easily argue that Campos is one of the main reasons this incredibly talented side won the title, as well as being the reason Monaco was so sharp in the transfer market lets take a look at the deals he made.
Most likely the most famous transformation of value Campos has ever performed on a player, is Kylian Mbappe, he was signed by Campos for free at a youth level from Bondy, before being sold for a staggering 166 million pounds, remarkable business from Campos. A similar instance is Thomas Lemar, also being signed for free before being exported to Atletico Madrid for £63 million.
Additional Transfers at Monaco include :
Benjamin Mendy – Cost (£11m), Sale Price (£49.2m)
Fabinho – Cost (£0), Sale Price (£43.7m)
Bernardo Silva – Cost (£12.1m), Sale Price (£43m)
Tiemoue Bakayoko – Cost (£12.1m), Sale Price (£40m)
James Rodriguez – Cost (£38.4m), Sale Price (£63m)
Anthony Martial – Cost (£4m), Sale Price (£57.6m)
Another extremely successful Campos reign was at LOSC Lille, who recently won the Ligue 1. Perhaps his most famous move here is signing Nicolas Pepe for just £9 million, before selling him for an incredible £72 million to Arsenal, the cycle does not end here though, Pepe’s replacement, Burak Yilmaz was brought in for a mere €8 million, Yilmaz, playing a key part in Lille’s recent title-winning campaign.
Luis Campos would be a tough figure to bring in, but with reliable sources confirming legs to this story, it should be a no brainer for the Arsenal board, as he would completely transform our transfer market capacity and effectiveness, and potentially bring us back to the heights we were once at.
